Redo by Walter-Ostlie Redo by Walter-Ostlie
This i a redraw of the first piece of art I ever uploaded to DA or anywhere online.

2008 is when I started learning how to draw because I wanted to illustrate my own ideas.  Its crazy that 6 years has passed since then.

You really have come a long way Walt, I mean, the stuff you're doing on Shiver is fantastic. I wish I could entice you to take my Halloween short this year :)

If I had the time, you know I'd be all over it!

It took me a little convincing to redraw an old piece, but it turned out to be pretty fun.  It was interesting to notice the different things I think about now when tackling a piece versus 6 years ago when I didn't really think too much about anything when starting a piece.  composition, form, etc etc

Definitely. I also sort of miss being able to just outright draw without worrying about 'mechanics' or 'does this look right' - just doin it for the fun of it. Dont do that as much anymore.

Agreed.  I've done a couple of 'I'm just going to draw and not think'  but then I look at it after I'm done and see all the mistakes.  I do try to just doodle in a notebook when I get a chance...and never look at it again :-)

Wow! That's an incredible amount of progress. And to be at the level you're at having started in 2008? That's pretty amazing.

Thank you.  I guess those years in school doodling when I should have been taking notes must have been a strong foundation for when I finally decided I wanted to draw :-)
